End of Summer Poems
The colors in the sky blend
Into darkness my eyes shut
And then it’s all bright again
Then the ding ding ding and I’m back from a dream.
The swish swish and the clang clang
Of the doors swinging open and closed
Back to hell we go
But just until it snows.
—8th Grade Booker
The warm air lifted away
As the cool gentle breeze
Rocks the leaves off the trees
The birds chirp their
Final melodies.

Leaves fall,
Branches wither,
Humans can’t help but shake and shiver.
Young trees sway from yon and hither,
Leaves turn yellow like Mr. Smithers.
All of this nature,
Moves and wobbles,
But this must happen,
For the winter toggles.
—8th Grade Tommie
As the leaves turn the wind breezes,
Yellow red orange fills the ground gracefully
Birds fly away as the chill chills their hearts.

Pools become empty of beings
As the cold menace rushes in
The roofs of trees turn into a storm of color
As the icy grasp of winter takes hold of the Earth.
—8th Grade Greg
