Gerald the Epic Crime Solver

Gerald the Epic Crime Solver

By Colton W.

Gerald was a tall and skinny boy. He was watching his favorite movie, Epic Crime Solvers LXXII, when all of the sudden he thought to himself, what if he became an epic crime solver? The next day, as he was walking in the park, he saw a shack! That will be where I do detective work and other things! He cleared it out, moved boxes, beat up squirrels, and ate cobwebs. He went to Home Depot and bought stuff; he went to the shack to put in some furniture and install some lights. “Wow,” Gerald said in awe. Gerald then went on Canva to make some flyers and put them up EVERYWHERE.

After a while, he was sitting in his chair, when someone tall and on the heavy side walked in and shouted, “Someone stole my package!”

“Who did it?” said Gerald.

“I don’t know!” said the stranger.

“Tell me EVERYTHING,” said Gerald.

The stranger started talking. “Last night, I was watching Epic Crime Solvers LXX-”

“YOU WATCH EPIC CRIME SOLVERS!?” yelled Gerald; the stranger looked at him tiredly. “Sorry,” said Gerald quietly.

The stranger continued, “I was watching Epic Crime Solvers LXXII, but I fell asleep during it. I woke up, checked my phone; it had a notification from 30 minutes before saying my package had arrived; I looked outside and it wasn’t there!”

As he was talking, an AMBER Alert went off. It read “Jim-Bob has been murdered today, there are no suspects.”

“Sorry, but this has much more priority than your package. I’m going to go look at this,” Gerald said.

“Here’s my address once you want to solve my problem,” said the stranger.

Gerald grabbed the paper with his address on it then rushed to the murder scene. Once he arrived, there were police and caution tape everywhere. He saw a dead body with a stab wound in it. He looked around, looking at the wound and measuring it, but there was no other evidence of anything, no fingerprints, no weapons, nor any trace of anyone. He didn’t know who did it; he was confused. He went back home, ate some dinner, and slept. He woke up from a text from an unknown number id. It read: “I committed both.”

He figured that the package thief was as well the murder committer! So if he found out who stole the package, he would find out who killed Jim-Bob. He went to the package theft victim’s house.

The stranger opened the door. “Hello, are you ready to solve the package stealing?” the stranger questioned.

“Yes, may I come in?” asked Gerald. The stranger opened the door and stepped aside; Gerald walked in. Inside, there was a package and a knife; the knife looked about the size of the hole in the body. Gerald realised that the stranger was the criminal.

The stranger laughed behind him. “So, you’ve figured it out,” he said.

Gerald turned around and saw him standing there with a medieval dagger in hand. Gerald grabbed the knife that was used in the murder. Gerald did a flip over the stranger, blocking stabs while doing that. The knives turned into lightsabers. Gerald tried to cut off the stranger’s feet, but he blocked it. The stranger stabbed Gerald; Gerald leaned back to dodge it. Gerald swung to the right, forcing the stranger to block, then Gerald flicked his lightsaber, knocking the stranger’s saber out of his hand. Then Gerald pinned the stranger to a wall. Gerald called the police. They arrived and Gerald let the police arrest him. Gerald was approached by the head officer.

The officer said, “Would you like to join the police force and be a detective?”

“No,” Gerald replied, “I’d rather be a lone epic crime solver.”

The officer said, “What is an epic cri-.”

Gerald put his finger on the officer’s mouth. “Shhhh, let me handle this.”
