The Faithful Spy
The Faithful Spy is a nonfiction account of the life of Deitrich Bonhoeffer focusing on his efforts to oppose the Nazi party in Germany during World War II. Bonhoeffer was a very religious individual, and he helped create a separate breakaway church that didn’t accept the beliefs of the Nazis. He wrestled with how to ethically oppose someone like Hitler. This book poses a lot of interesting questions, and it is beautifully illustrated. It’s not quite a comic, but the illustrations are an important element of the storytelling alongside the prose text.
