Impossible Creatures

Christopher Forrester’s father has to go away on a work trip, so he is sent to stay with his grandfather in the Scottish Highlands. He’s disappointed to learn that there isn’t even reliable phone service, but he soon discovers a hidden world called the Archipleago, full of mystical creatures living. He teams up with Mal, a girl with a magical flying coat, to try and stop the creatures from dying out. There’s a large cast of interesting characters and a magical world with a lot of depth and detail. A sequel was recently released and a third book has been announced as well.
